Thanks, this one may be worth a read. At least the Amazon note says correctly that "Charles Taze Russell was founder of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society," not that he was the founder of Jehovah's Witnesses.

If this is an objective work, it will be appreciated.

JW1983 - From another site

Charles Taze Russell: His Life and Times: The Man, the Millennium and the Message by Fredrick Zydek is the latest biography on Pastor Russell, and I must say I am very impressed. I have read other historiees on the Pastor by Zydek (all unpublished manuscripts) but this one is far better than the last one authored by Br. Redeker. Thee author is neither a Bible Student or a Jehovah's Witness. although he grew interested in the Pastor when his aunt converted to the Witnesses and gave him a set of the Millennial Dawn volumes and for the past 30 years Professor Zydek has been researching the Pastor and does an excellent job. I highly recommend it! - RR (Bible Student)

From what I can tell from Amazon, this is not a book about the JWs, it appears to be PRO Russell 1852-1916 time frame.

Yes I did, it looks good to me. Its sad that many Brothers know nothing about the early years of the WTB&TS, or they think that it's of no great value to read about the foundation of our Society. If it's not in the current WT some just don't seem to care.

Sherlock Holmes in 1891: 'It is a capital mistake to theorise before one has data. Insensibly one begins to twist facts to suit theories, instead of theories to suit facts'

Interesting. Well, we do have a number of resources for researching the early years of the WTS and CTR. It's good to take advantage of those. Additionally, I found Nelson Barbour: The Millennium's Forgotten Prophet to be very interesting.

Yes, the book on Nelson Barbour is very good, I think his next book will be on the Russell years. He also has a good blog @ http://truthhistory.blogspot.com/

This book looks very intersting. I will get it some time next month. But, don't forget, the 2010 Yearbook should be coming in soon. Reading the bible and it's publications should be the first to read.
